This new approach will, for the first time, see the Royal Navy, the British Army, and the Royal Air Force have a joint Armed Forces Recruitment Service (AFRS). Delivered through a partnership of the MOD, Serco, Adecco and a consortium of partners, this service will provide end-to-end support from candidate attraction to assessment, onboarding, and Phase 1 training.  

About the role

We are recruiting for a Recruitment Operations Manager; you’ll be accountable for AFRS delivery teams delivering hiring strategy and meeting demand.

In this high profile and high-volume contract, you’ll also have a key focus on government and compliance and be pivotal to the successful appointment of critical roles within our Armed Forces.

As part of the delivery leadership team, you will Line Management our Team Leaders whose teams are pivotal to ensuring a seamless candidate journey from application to onboarding. Data will play a key role in the running of recruitment activity and providing a platform for strategic review.

This is a remote role with a requirement for regular presence in Bristol or Birmingham (as well as occasional trips to other office locations around the UK). The role will be offered on a fixed term basis initially with potential to convert to a permanent role.  

What you’ll be doing:

  • Accountable for the day-to-day AFRS operational delivery.

  • Execute recruitment strategies through delivery teams

  • Support upskilling and development of teams and team leaders.

  • Co-ordinate and effectively manage available resources to deliver a high-quality service, by ensuring compliance throughout the candidate journey and that service levels agreements.

  • Co-ordinate and motivate the team to ensure that work items/cases are being pro-actively managed.

  • Monitor and support the team’s activities, and take responsibility for conducting regular team meetings, 1-2-1’s and performance appraisals where required.

  • Act as an ambassador and actively support and promote PERFORM methodology including participation in the daily team and manager huddles.

  • Ensure team members understand and apply company, client and statutory operating procedures.

  • Provide new and existing Team Leaders with support, guidance, coaching and development to be able to perform their roles successfully.

  • Track performance against SLA and highlight any issues to the Recruitment Delivery Director if necessary.

  • Act as a senior escalation point of contact for candidate queries.

  • Resolve and/or own queries to ensure resolution in a timely manner.

  • Proactively review and monitor processes/procedures, making improvement recommendations and implementing this following approval.

  • Create and develop effective working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders including attending monthly/quarterly review meetings.

  • Adopt & demonstrate the company’s core values in the delivery of a customer-centric service.

  • Cultivate a positive team environment at all times.

  • Ensure capacity model is in place and regularly reviewed to support team workload and engagement.

  • Work in collaboration with the Business Analyst to ensure provision of meaningful metrics, to shape and identify actionable insights.

  • Complete knowledge of all aspects of the Solution including but not limited to processes, policies, SLA, business/client requirements.

About you

  • Proven experience of leading high-volume recruitment campaigns and managing multiple teams (large scale) within an RPO environment.

  • Understanding of recruitment methodologies and experience of complex RPO environments

  • Positively influencing and managing the expectations of key decision makers / stakeholders of a large multi-faceted enterprise organisation.

  • Communicating at a Senior Management level; upward management.

  • Consistent customer focus in a demanding environment.

  • Business relationship management.

  • Effective data, MI knowledge to manage workload and team size decisions.

  • Clear and concise communications skills.

  • Have a proven track record of building strong relationships.

  • Capacity/accuracy tracking

  • Good knowledge of ATS systems.
