About the role

Counsel represents Adecco in state agency wage matters and provides support, advice, counsel, and recommendations to internal clients on a variety of legal and/or business matters and manages outside litigation counsel on assigned cases. Works under general direction and reports to Vice President Counsel - Litigation, Labor and Employment, and Government Affairs.

What you’ll be doing

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Effectively interfaces with management of corporate and/or business lines and provides support, advice, counsel and recommendations on various legal and/or business matters, with an emphasis on garnishments, anti-trust, and state wage and hour laws.

· Manages and/or assists with managing outside litigation counsel on cases and legal claims.

· Interacts with agency investigators such as from the U.S. DOL, to handle requests for information and documents, appear at agency hearings on behalf of Adecco and negotiate resolutions.

· Reviews and recommends new techniques, policies and/or procedures aimed at enhancing the productivity, reliability, technical innovation, and quality of legal work.

· Partners with leadership to identify current and future legal support needs.

· Stays abreast of current litigation, standards and best practices

· Prepares memos, policy statements, and communications to ensure compliance with federal, state and local laws.

· Communicates with clients, vendors, government agencies and their respective counsel to obtain/provide information and resolve problems.

· Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned by Head of Litigation.

About you

EDUCATION & JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Juris Doctorate (J.D.) and licensure to practice in assigned state(s) with a minimum of three (3) years of domestic employment and labor law experience required.

COMPETENCIES:

· Skilled in communicating effectively verbally and in writing with all levels of management and employees.

· Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

· Ability to provide subject matter expertise and counsel to others.

· Ability to demonstrate negotiation, litigation, and dispute resolution skills.

· Knowledge of and the ability to negotiate and administer contracts, as well as the ability to execute contracts in compliance with corporate guidelines, laws, rules and regulations.

· Knowledge of and ability to interpret and apply federal and state employment-related laws, rules and regulations.

· Knowledge of and the ability to interpret and apply related federal, state and local laws, ordinances, rules and regulations.

· Ability to identify and/or document existing and new processes as well as evaluate their effectiveness and/or recommend changes or alternatives.

· Ability to identify and resolve problems.

· Ability to effectively manage projects that vary in nature and scope.

· Proficient with Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

· Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.

· Ability to work remote with occasional reporting in-person.
