About the role

The Bid Director is a strategic leader responsible for overseeing the full lifecycle of bid management across complex, multi-sector opportunities. This role drives the development and execution of high-impact bid strategies, ensuring the delivery of compelling, compliant, and innovative proposals that align with client needs and business objectives. The Bid Director leads a high-performing global bid team, fosters cross-functional collaboration, and acts as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders, including C-suite executives.

What you’ll be doing

Strategic Leadership & Planning

  • Drive bid strategies aligned with business growth objectives.

  • Lead planning for high-value bids (opportunity qualification, win themes, storyboarding).

  • Translate client challenges into tailored, consultative solutions.

Bid Management & Delivery

  • Direct the end-to-end bid lifecycle (RFI/RFP/RFQ, writing, submission).

  • Ensure innovative, compliant, and technically accurate proposals.

  • Manage timelines, risks, and resource allocation.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead and upskill a high-performing, global bid team across geographies.

  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.

Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration

  • Partner with cross-functional SMEs (Sales, Marketing, Legal, Finance, Delivery) to align proposals with client needs.

  • Act as Pontoon's strategic liaison across the Group.

Content & Knowledge Management

  • Manage the proposal content library for accuracy and accessibility.

  • Craft compelling executive summaries and tailored narratives.

  • Utilize bid analytics and ROI data to optimize win rates.

Governance & Compliance

  • Enforce company policies (ethics, diversity, financial) and procurement protocols (e.g., Ariba, Coupa).

  • Manage and digitize Bid technical platforms.

About you

Education & Experience

  • Background in HR, recruitment, professional services, MSP is a must.
  • 10+ years in business/technical writing.

  • 5+ years managing a bid team ; global experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Expertise in strategic planning, opportunity qualification, and bid delivery.

  • Ability to manage complex, multi-workstream projects and tight deadlines.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills ; proven ability to engage stakeholders at all levels, including C-suite.

  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and internet-based procurement tools.
