Our Regional Legal team is seeking a Legal Counsel based in Seoul. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys working in a setting that combines local and regional perspectives, and is passionate about serving as a strong local voice while fostering regional collaboration.
What you will be doing?
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of contracts, especially employment agreements, in both Korean and English, ensuring compliance with South Korean legal requirements.
- Perform detailed legal analysis and provide sound legal advice to various departments within the organization, helping them understand the implications of the law on their operations and projects.
- Handle legal disputes and litigation effectively within South Korea, including negotiating settlements and representing the company in legal proceedings as required.
- Ensure compliance with South Korean laws, regulations, and international laws, as well as adherence to Group and Regional Policies. Develop and implement compliance programs and conduct regular compliance audits, and coordinate with relevant South Korean authorities.
- Provide legal support for strategic initiatives within the company, ensuring legal risks are identified and mitigated.
- Monitor and renew business licenses and handle insurance matters, including policy renewals and claims, to ensure continuous protection and compliance.
- Manage corporate secretarial and governance matters for the company and its subsidiaries, ensuring accuracy and timely compliance.
- Perform other related duties as required, supporting the broader objectives of the legal and compliance department, including collaborating with the regional legal & compliance department on best practices and standards.
- Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders across departments and regions, including senior business managers in South Korea, on managing various contracting and compliance processes in a culturally-sensitive manner.
- Ability to manage stakeholders independently, being the contact and responsible person for legal & compliance aspects of various matters, while simultaneously ensuring alignment with regional and global standards and processes.
- Manage regional legal governance and support processes, ensuring effective coordination of legal matters and accurate documentation, with guidance from the Manager, support from other team members, and close collaboration with the broader Asia Legal & Compliance team.
Who we are looking for?
- 3 years of legal experience.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Law (South Korea) or a related field.
- Certified Attorney (변호사)/Public Labor Attorney (공인노무사) in South Korea.
- Fluent in Korean and English—both written and spoken
Preferred Experience:
- Background in labor law or employment legal matters.
- Experience in litigation and dispute resolution.
- Familiarity with data protection and compliance frameworks.
- Previous work with HR or as an employment legal advisor.
- Confident in handling employee terminations.
