About the role

The Data Scientist works as a part of the Business Intelligence Team and is responsible for discovering insights from data using advanced analytics to help meet business needs. This role is responsible for mining and analyzing complex talent data, building predictive models using statistical and machine learning as well as unsupervised methods in order to provide talent analytics for internal and external customers. 

What you’ll be doing

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: 
• Partners with stakeholders throughout the organization to identify opportunities for leveraging analytics to drive business solutions. 
• Mines and analyzes complex data to support and drive business strategies. 
• Uses predictive modeling to improve customer experiences and other business outcomes. 
• Designs and builds new data sets for data modeling. 
• Determines new ways to improve data and predictive capabilities. 
• Evaluates and deploys predictive models in Power BI or via other avenues. 
• Coordinates with different functional teams to implement models and monitor outcomes. 
• Participates in special projects and perform other duties as assigned.

About you

EDUCATION & JOB REQUIREMENTS: 
• Bachelor’s or Master’s in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science or another quantitative field or equivalent experience desired. 
• Use statistical computer languages (R, Python, SLQ, etc.) to mine data. 
• Deploy models in Power BI or potentially via other avenues. 


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: 
• Skilled in communicating effectively verbally and in writing. 
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. 
• Strong problem-solving skills. 
• Experience building models using advanced statistical and machine learning techniques. 
• Experience visualizing/presenting data for stakeholders using PowerBI, ggplot, or similar tools. 
• Attention to detail. 
• Ability to maintain and meet deadlines. 
• Experience with business intelligence tools such as Power BI, Spotfire, Tableau, etc. 
• Experience with VMS and/or ATS tools such as Fieldglass, Beeline, Avature, Taleo, or SuccessFactors, strongly desired but not required. 
• Proficient with Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

The anticipated salary range for this position is between $94,000 and $110,000. Salary may be determined based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors. This position participates in Pontoon’s incentive program which also includes bonus eligibility.

Benefit offerings for full-time employment include medical, dental, vision, term life and AD&D insurance, short-term and long-term disability, additional voluntary benefits, commuter benefits, wellness plans, and a 401k plan or a non-qualified deferred compensation plan. Available paid leave includes Personal Time Off (PTO) on an accrual basis up to 152 hours a year, 10 Paid Holidays, 1 Community Service Day, and up to 6 weeks of Paid Parental Leave. PTO and holiday hours are prorated based on hire date within the calendar year.
